A unique piece of orchestral music with narration and poetry designed to help protect and show the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef.
Initiated due to constant threats of maintaining the viability and the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef (GBR), we aim to bring awareness of the constant threats and help show the unique diversity of the GBR. We all need the reef to be at its best at all times. We will be doing this through music, poetry and the spoken word to audiences around the world.
The music is written, which goes for just over 15 minutes, and we are working on the poetry and the narration.
Our aim is to get the Queensland Symphony Orchestra to play the piece, and all the profits from the performance will go to help support groups that are caring for the GBR. We also hope to get the performance filmed, so we can show it to the world , which will help raise awareness of the issues surrounding the GBR.
Funding is needed to bring all the different elements together, but it is input from groups and individual we need to help complete the project. People like musicians, video production companies, professional actors or speakers and marketing and promotional groups.
Through this and various other campaigns, we aim to achieve our goal and help save the GBR from any current or future destruction, just like the campaign to save Tasmania’s Franklin and Gordon rivers saved their natural wonders.
This project is for all Australians who are concerned about the future of the Great Barrier Reef. I am the composer, Rob J Kennedy and I’m based in Canberra, we are working with some of Australia’s leading writers and poets.
There is only one Great Barrier Reef in our world. It is the largest living thing in the world, and millions of sea life and humans depend on it being healthy and here forever.
All Australians present and future will be able to see the reef if we protect it now. Our project is aiming to help with this protection.
The music is completed. Some of the poetry and some of the narration is done. We are searching for groups and people to collaborate with to get the project off the ground. We have spoken to several groups already, and we are looking at funding from APRA beginning early 2018, and possibly a Kickstarter campaign.
I have all the necessary tech for mixing and mastering the music. Pro Tool 12.
We need Video production and possibly audio recording gear and people to produce the video of the concert, which will keep a permanent record for what we are doing and help show the world the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef and how it needs protecting.
Our project will be here forever in the form of a video and the music can be performed by any group around the world at any time. There is no copyright restriction on the music or the poems or the narrative.
This is a not for profit project, and any profits generated from it will go to groups helping to save and support the Great Barrier Reef.
What we want to achieve is the protection of the Great Barrier Reef through our artistic output.
