Laundry Echo is filming the best musicians in the country every week, vote for this project to make those videos the best they can be.
I’m Dave McCarthy, founder of www.laundryecho.com and I hope you consider voting for and sharing my project.
I founded Laundry Echo to write about and showcase artists in the Australian DIY Music Scene. A scene flooded with remarkable talent that so frequently never leaves the livingrooms and backyards of Australia’s thriving house show scene.
Every week I record a video with one of these artists and post it to Facebook. I’ve recorded everyone from fast rising Australian acts like Jess Locke and Antonia & The Lazy Susans right through to Michigan crust punks Bong Mountain. I have produced a video a week since June 2017.
Initially videos were recorded in the laundry of my O’Connor share house. I have since started to push out of the laundry and try and find a consistent and professional recording environment. I think I’m doing alright, but I know I could be doing better with a little bit of help from a Stir grant.
I have the camera, I have the lighting. I just want to get the right audio and backdrop. Awarding Laundry Echo this grant would allow me to purchase a secondhand Zoom H4N to nail the audio every time ($200-250), a range of bright mono coloured video backdrops to make my videos stand out online ($100) and a flag to take on the road whenever I can’t record in the studio setting ($150).
Laundry Echo is a passion project and one that I make no money from. As such spending money on it is hard. I do however know that this blog is doing great work in connecting non-mainstream artists with an audience looking to break the norm.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and for considering voting for my project!
Any music lover or musician can get involved with Laundry Echo, but primarily the blog reaches 18-30 year olds in the punk, folk and indie scene.
Laundry Echo connects musicians with music lovers as well as other musicians. Creating community, new fans and friendships in doing so.
By supporting Laundry Echo you are giving me a big thumbs up that I should keep doing what I am doing and doing the best I possibly can.
Laundry Echo will keep putting out a video of a great new Australian artist every week, whilst continuing to write, review and premiere the best new music as frequently as we can.
I hope to expand into interviews, festival coverage music servicing in the future.
