A small cafe serving coffee, African street food; with a generous serve of “ubuntu”.

  • Season 02 Project with 200 Supporters

A Swahili word that means Origin. Asili is small cafe located right in the heart of the nation’s capital, Canberra. The menu, setting and culture of Asili will mainly be attributed to our African Origin. We will be serving coffee, African street food with a generous serve of “ubuntu”.

Asili aims to provide customers with the opportunity to experience an African dynamic to the café life. Through our experience as Africans, we have found that Africa is a continent made up of many unique and vibrant countries that all share at their core, the spirit of ubuntu delivered in similar ways of engagement: conversation, music and dance and most importantly food.

Why you should support

We wish to celebrate our origin, and share some of the uncovered positive aspects of the African cuisine to Canberra and hopefully, to the rest of the world. This will be reflected in the food, coffee and experience we share to our customers. Hence, we would like you to be part of this project and try out a different experience.

Which resources do you need for the project?

In order for Asili to develop as a brand, we must first establish ourselves. This grant will assist in change of sign, and for other subtle branding methods. Through this, we hope to create a space for us all to experience the African culture, and celebrate our origins in the spirit of ubuntu.

Where will ASILI
go in the future?

This is the beginning of Asili, for us to grow our efforts would be geared towards collaborating with community projects that celebrate diversity, origin and multi-culturalism. We wish to continue to push ourselves to explore different African street food and bringing out more of the motherland experience, down under.
