Class of Season Three, p.1

Be on the lookout for our new blog series – Class of Season Three. We’ll introduce you to the people behind the projects so you can connect better with them and understand who they are and why they need your support. For our first edition we’ll introducing you to Adrienne of Shane: Barber for Women and Chris from Absolute Decimation Miniatures Wargame. Both Adrienne and Chris are parents to young children, so your support for them on the Stir platform will help them to pursue their creative careers.

Last week I had the pleasure to meet with Adrienne from Shane: Barber for Women. She let me into her home and we discussed why the women of Canberra with short hair need a barber just for females. But more importantly, we talked about life, her creative hero, Hayao Miyazaki, and everything else.

Some things that stood out were when I asked Adrienne what her life motto was and she responded with, “drink all the coffee”, while sipping on her takeaway coffee. Funnily enough, when I asked her what skills do creative creators need, she replied back with “you have to be able to communicate well.” Drinking coffee while spouting her love for coffee really highlights her ability to communicate well. And finally, what amazed me about Adrienne was the fact that she works, has children and is trying to get Shane: Barber for Women up and running. Be sure to vote for Shane: Barber for Women and help Adrienne drink all the coffee.

To all the gamers out there, let it be known that I am what is referred to as a noob. So apologies for my lack of gamer knowledge (I tried). On a sunny Saturday morning, I drove out to meet Chris at Jolt Games in Mitchell. It was such a surreal experience, with game stations set up with a Magic: The Gathering tournament happening on the other side of the shop.

Chris is ex-army, a young father to two children and someone happy to introduce you to his wargame. As Chris eloquently pointed out, the gaming community is a “self-reinforcing cycle” where you come to play games with your friends and stay to play with new gaming friends who are equally as passionate as you are.

Despite being new to the whole concept, Chris led me through a game and explained the rules to me, letting me know that to gamers the instructions would be second nature. Chris has extensive knowledge of the gaming industry and has really thought about his game with testers on hand at Jolt Games. For all you gamers out there, make sure to vote for Absolute Decimation Miniatures Wargame and support Chris’ gaming passion.
